Executive Director
The Downtown Bryan Economic Development Association is accepting resumes for the position of Executive Director. The Executive Director will be responsible for coordinating downtown revitalization activities. Applicants should have education and/or professional experience in one or more of the following areas: historic preservation, urban planning, public administration, retailing, marketing, design, volunteer management, nonprofit management, and small business development. The Executive Director must be entrepreneurial, energetic, imaginative, well-organized and capable of functioning effectively in an independent environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential. The application review process will begin immediately and the position will remain open until filled. Summary and Primary Function
Under general guidance from the fifteen member Board of Directors, the executive director is responsible for carrying out the policies and procedures relative to downtown revitalization to attain the mission of revitalizing and maintaining the commercial and aesthetic viability of the historic district of downtown Bryan. The primary function is to coordinate downtown organization, promotion, design, and economic restructuring activities as well as to establish and maintain effective working relationships with local business, community, and political leaders.
Primary Duties
- Coordinate promotion activities for downtown, including sales promotions, special events, printed materials, heritage tourism, and on-going public relations.
- Assist local organizations, tenants, and property owners with downtown improvement projects.
- Work with organizations in beautification, landscaping, and public improvement projects of the Downtown Bryan Master Plan.
- Organize economic development programs, including analysis and monitoring business development, business recruitment, data repositories, and real estate marketing.
- Develop funding support through membership services, grants, and other fundraising activities.
- Administer all aspects of the association office, including recordkeeping, purchasing, budget development, correspondence, and assistance to the Board of Directors.
- Responsible for public outreach and meetings of volunteer committees, governmental entities, and serve as general liaison to the entire community.
